Eliminate your opponent’s pieces as expeditiously as possible until his king appears. Then do whatever it takes to capture it.
TIPS:
When choosing a color it’s usually a disadvantage to have a king in your starting five.
If your king is on the board, your first thought must always be to safeguard him.
Having a queen on the board early is not always an advantage (unless your opponent’s king is also on the board).
Keep in mind that knights are extra powerful on a short board. Preclude your opponent’s.
Pawns are also more dangerous on the 5×5 board. Use that fact to your advantage.
Try to keep your opponent’s rooks off your back row (this is often as simple as moving a pawn forward).
AC-castle at the most advantageous time – which may be before you are in check.
Keep an eye on your opponent’s reserve pieces so you know what could pop up next that might help, or hurt, you.
Don’t take unnecessary risks – especially late in the game. Always check reserve pieces before moving anything off your/their back row.
NEVER GIVE UP. Even if you lose your queen early. Things can change quickly and drastically in this game, offering you a comeback you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
